Dental implants are made from metal rods that serve as a replacement for your tooth’s root. The metal rod, or “root,” is placed into the jaw bone and will serve as the foundation for the replacement tooth. A replacement tooth will be made to match your existing teeth so that it will be hard to notice the implant after the procedure is finished. The rod will be placed and then once the gums have finished healing the new tooth can be installed. A few appointments will be necessary before the result is seen.
Dental implants, when taken care of properly, have the potential to last a lifetime. They are made from the strongest material and will last longer than any other option for replacing a missing tooth. Please read below to find out some advantages to getting a dental implant.
- Convenience. Dental implants allow you to simply enjoy having teeth. You don’t have to struggle with messy adhesives or worry they may come loose throughout the day. You also don’t have to remove them nightly for cleaning.
- Ease of Eating. Dental implants will function just like your regular teeth and you will be able to eat all your favorite foods without worrying about pain.
- Improved comfort. With dental implants you no longer must worry about the discomfort associated with removable dentures.
- Improved oral health. Dental implants do not require any teeth to be ground down. Flossing is not impeded because there is still space between your natural teeth and implant to accommodate flossing.
